West Ham's auctioning of Boleyn memorabila
Just read that they are selling the remaining John Lyall gates and historical memorabilia as part of the auction.

I can't fucking believe the club are doing this...surely they can find somewhere to put these even it is at the training ground, or a football museum?!

The thought of the gates being sold to some rich fucker and not being able to seen again makes me feel sick.

Poor, poor showing from the board this imo.

They're already at the OS.

Some of the gates are inside the OS shop already

OTB

I know that are some of them at the OS but for me the entire gates are sacred and part of the club's history, not for the current owners to decide whether they are sold off or not.

I thought that the ones at the OS are where part of them are going to be on view, with the others either somewhere else at the OS, at the training ground, or even left as part of the new development at the Boleyn.

Just seems like there is nothing the owners wont look to make a buck on.

falling short of opening some kind of west ham museum then I think these bits and pieces are best off in the hands of fans. More likely to treasure and preserve them.

They are selling everything. Even the fax machine from the managers office haha.

Think the club is selling too much off. They make themselves look cheap and tacky and would sell a claret and blue dog turd if they thought it would make money.

What should they do with it? It can't all go.

Was it a dog turd from a dog owned by one of the players? If so my bid is £50 and I'll collect.

There will be plenty of Upton Park memorabilia you can buy later this month after West Ham play their final game at the 35,000-capacity ground against Manchester United on Tuesday.

You might need a big garden or have a bit of clear out to make room for some of it but here's a guide price list:

Set of entrance gates, renamed John Lyall Gates in 2009 after former manager - £5,000

Matchday goalposts with net - £500

Manager's three-drawer desk, complete with office chair and phone - £50

'Reserved for chairman' car park sign - £50

Cow bell gift from pre-season friendly v Bayern Munich - £50

Tracksuit believed to have been worn by Trevor Brooking before 1980 FA Cup final victory - £300

Manager's dugout seat, complete with heated element - £100

Bubble machine used to accompany club anthem 'Forever Blowing Bubbles - £20

'Sorry position closed' ticket office sign - £20

They should really put these items in storage.

Why put them in storage?

Stepney.Ammer 11:47 Tue May 10
Re: West Ham's auctioning of Boleyn memorabila
To be fair I couldn't give a shit about the rest of the stuff listed there but as I say, imo the gates are sacred and should be retained by the club in their entirety, or at least donated to a football museum.

My mrs does say I'm a bit of an hoarder, so maybe it's just me!!

Mr Polite 11:49 Tue May 10
Re: West Ham's auctioning of Boleyn memorabila
Putting them is storage is stupid.

Chucking them away is stupid

Leaving for the contractors to strip and find their way on to ebay from some scum bag builder would be stupid

Putting an announcement out saying 'Take what you want' would be carnage.

This seems the most sensible way, although I think they should have offered all STH the chance to have their seat free of charge, instead of making people like me nick it.
